One Meter Per Residence

Potosi Water Supply is enforcing state regulations that allow only one service connection per meter. Under requirements established by TCEQ and PUC, only one residential or commercial service connection is permitted per meter. A “double hook-up” is defined as any situation in which multiple connections are supplied by a single meter. These arrangements are not permitted and are subject to disconnection of service.

While we recognize that some customers may view this enforcement as unnecessary, compliance is not optional. These regulations are required by our regulating authorities, and Potosi Water Supply is obligated to enforce them.

To determine whether you are in violation of this rule, please review some examples below:
• Multiple homes connected to one meter
• RVs used or connected as a residence
• Detached garage apartments
• Barns or shops with living quarters
• A home or business supplying an additional residence or business
• Any separate rental unit (short- or long-term, including Airbnb/VRBO)
